Do you still have ftp access? If not, you may be able to boot from a different bank (if your chip supports it).
Otherwise you could just burn a disc to boot from (hexen,slayers,evox,xbmc) anything with ftp.

Why not install an on/off switch in that controller while it's apart? It's one of my favorite mods.
You can do the xbox portion when you do the USB mod.
