Re: Hdd jumper settings
You don't need to worry about the 32GB clip stuff on the right. It is for very old systems where the BIOS support was limited to 32GB HDDs. I had to do my own search to check the other two as I've not come across these myself either:- The Auto Spin Disabled settings are also an irrelevance to later ...

Re: Softmodding my modchipped xbox
You definitely do not want to softmod the Xbox if the chip is working OK. If it is, burned discs should boot without issue. With a working chip you do not have the same worries as you do with a softmod. Even in the unlikely event something goes wrong with a new dash install on a chipped machine it i...

Re: Skin stuck
It is a good idea to test old skins on a mirror copy of your XBMC dash installed in Apps first. I've had a couple of problems like this in the past when trying out old skins with newer versions of XBMC. Sometimes the skin can be so broken you can not even navigate back to the Appearance menu to be a...

Re: XBOX Dashboard problems
Pity; I assume that test was done with just a direct connection to the Composite inputs on the TV. I'm pretty sure the Xbox has now been partially returned to retail state by your dashboard update attempts ie. games boot but burned discs do not. But trying two different softmodded HDDs and having th...

Re: XBOX Dashboard problems
Grasping at straws here: if you're using a Component cable have you tried it booting it with a standard definition cable type instead? If the backup original HDD is not working in the same way then, unless it is an incredible coincidence, there might be something wrong with the video output. You see...

Re: XBOX Dashboard problems
Can't really help at this point but a further clarification on a few matters might be useful. You tried cold booting an installer/rescue disc and it didn't work so burned discs (must be on DVD-R preferably burned with ImgBurn) won't boot. That would suggest the console has, for some reason, been res...

Re: Directory not found??
I think if you do a few searches here about using and partitioning 1TB HDD you'll find information that once you go over 512GB with the F:\ drive using all the space you can get corruption if it was only partitioned with 32KB clusters. A 1TB drive with a single F:\ drive rather than split into F and...

Re: Directory not found??
What about the F:\ drive, any chance it is getting full? If it is a large HDD being used were the extended partitions formatted correctly? I'm no expert on FTP issues at all but in my limited experience I've seen the directory not found message seems to be used as an indication of some unspecified t...

Re: Wiping my boxes-can anyone help?
You could do that with any installer disc or softmod with the option to return it to retail but as I said earlier even re-formatting won't actually delete the files. They're still, potentially, recoverable like any HDD or similar storage device unless they're over-written multiple times.

Re: meltdown and spectre bug
The question I'm asking is why these apparently serious flaws not been spotted before? I've seen articles which say they affect almost any CPU likely to have been manufactured in the last 10 years or more. I'm probably being overly cynical but I'd be looking for evidence that these problems were act...

Re: Wiping my boxes-can anyone help?
There's a problem with that ^ because you'd need to reformat the HDD you're wiping on PC for the cleaner and sometimes even the OS see it is attached. That means it won't be FATX formatted and in any case when you put it back in the Xbox it won't have the softmod so you'd get an error message anyway...

Re: How do I hide folders in my games section.
There is, or should be (may be dependent on skin) a "Remove Source" option in the white button context menu. Perhaps I did not use my words carefully enough but I meant that whilst in the main Programs menu remove the "Games" folder as a source path not delete a source. I find it...

Re: How do I hide folders in my games section.
It looks to me as though there could be something seriously wrong with a configuration file somewhere. Obviously the games shown on the root of the F:\drive should be in the F:\Games folder, why they're not ie. if they've just appeared there when you, presumably, installed them to F:\Games I have no...

Re: How do I hide folders in my games section.
The questions are: what are those folders, what's in them and why are they there? Presumably they are games or at least have a "default.xbe" inside that is being recognised because you have written in a path for them to appear in the Games folder. Before deleting them find out what those f...

Re: Must have apps/tools etc for xbox
Enigmah Region Changer Initially, at least, essential if you have a native PAL console and useful if you're using PAL games some of which do not support NTSC. C Xbox Tools 2 Excellent alternative to Qwix. AID Installed as an App (BTW important this is done via its menu options) you have the biggest...

Re: XBMC Fatal Error: No suitable skin version found
Set my pc to a static IP of 192.168.0.2, subnet 255.255.255.0 and gateways and dns 192.160.0. Used a crossover cable to try to connect to the xbox at the XBMC Fatal Error: No suitable skin version found screen and still get the error. No connection could be made because the target machine actively ...

Re: xbox issue - cant do anything
I do not recognise the skin at all. It might well help knowing what it is. It could just be that it works from the context menu (white button) or you need to click on the folder icon you can see in the bottom right to bring up the menus. I seem to remember there is one old skin which used a very rop...

Re: Make Xbox isos for backup
Yes, just FTP the game folder and use either Qwix or C Xbox Tools to create a Xbox ISO which can be burned to disc. Any backup must be on DVD-R media for maximum compatibility across all the Xbox disc drive makes. DVD2Xbox itself has an ISO Mode which is described as an "ISO Ripper" option...

This is the place I've used the three or four times I've needed to install missing DLLs. As long as you avoid their installer offer there's no problem just downloading the individual DLL you need and installing it as I described earlier. https://www.dll-files.com/ I've just remembered that the first...

Rocky5 Thanks for that. Gangst3r On all occasions when I've had a reported missing DLL of any type you do not have to put it in the applications. Not sure about the 'portable' version of XPR Express, which is what Rocky5 has supplied, but that is the case with the installed version you can find els...
