Re: Xbox AVIP break out board

I think I will put the converter back together and try it the way it was intended see if I get the same results. In hind sight I should of tested the adapter before jacking it all in and expecting it to be all good. Ah! I can relate to that. So many times have I skipped testing units the way they a...

Re: Xbox Linux NAS

I have a first gen 256MB RAM Model B. I doubt having 512MB of RAM in my case would have boosted performance significantly. Do the first gen RPi have USB2.0? Have you tried OpenMediaVault.org? I believe RPi2 Model B have 900MHz Quad Core processor, 1Gb RAM and 4xUSB2.0 ports. Yes all Raspberry Pies ...

Re: Xbox Linux NAS

The only issue with these low power devices is that they don't offer the network throughput of higher specs devices. I had a EXT3-formatted USB HDD attached to a raspi with nothing but a single SMB share. If I recall correctly, transfer speeds were below 5MB/s and latency was horrible when only a s...

Re: Xbox Linux NAS

It is possible to have both drive connected at the same time using linux. The problem is that all distro are on 2.x kernel. Compiling new softwares to stay up-to-date will sometime prove to be difficult. There is no NAS oriented distro readily available for the Xbox. you'll have to take what's alrea...

Re: Xbox AVIP break out board

Maybe the noise from the HDMI board's power input going back into the Xbox 5V power rail is causing issue with the video output of the Xbox itself; especially if you selected a power source near the AVIP port. Re-introduced noise could disturb one of the video output/amplification stage and screw up...

Re: Xbox AVIP break out board

This post is more to do with picture quality I have been having a play around and I want to capture some picture to show you all before and after but the only method I have is to put a camera in front of the tv, would any one have a suggestion ? I do get screen flickering (bright/ dark) just on the...

I don't have a reflow oven yet(Using hot air gun from my soldering station) but I agree that solder paste soldering is just so much better! I'm using one of those chinese solder paste dispenser you hook an air compressor to it and I just cannot believe how easy and fast soldering narrow-pitched comp...

Re: [FS] Modded Xbox 250GB

Sorry to divert from the main topic but I'm always amazed to see how many of those X2.6 external switch units are not where the designer intended you to mount them. The shape of the external switch unit fits perfectly in the trapezoid recess right in the middle of the front panel. It aligns perfectl...

Re: Xbox one

IMO there is little to gain in supporting XBMC/Kodi on Xbox One, or just plain homebrew for what it matters. With all those TV boxes available for cheap, you can have dedicated hardware for XBMC that uses far less power and will do just fine. Most run on Android and so can support emulators, games a...

Re: can Xbox support multiple hard drives?

Except when running Linux on it, your Xbox cannot use more than 1 HDD at a time. The Xtender case mod allows you to install 3 HDD simultaneously but will only power 1 of those 3 at a time. It's just a hell lot more convenient as you can swap your Xbox HDD with the press of a button. You have to do t...

Re: How can I upgrade xbox kernel?

Sorry, I think my question was too vague. I already know about needing to keep your HDD locked on an unmodified BIOS, but I was wondering what an Xbox can do if it no longer requires a locked HDD from running a BIOS like Evos X M8. I'm guessing a dashboard has to be present at all times being the o...

Re: How can I upgrade xbox kernel?

How would having a modded BIOS that no longer requires a locked HDD factor into this? Softmods requires your HDD to be locked. A softmod Xbox initially boots from the retail kernel (which requires a locked HDD to succesfully boot) and will load the exploit that will patch the retail kernel(nkpatche...

No problem.

I found some posts on Xbox-Scene that confirms booting issues of the SpiderGX on 1.6b consoles.

Re: Xenium Clone

Hi Psyko what do you think of this one. https://www.dropbox.com/s/gwz4xkbdgu6kg26/LCD.pdf?dl=0 Thanks Yep it will physically fit for sure with its 27mm height. It's going to be a little small but it will do. Note that these LCD all seem to require a ~3.3V supply opposed to the more common 5V (which...

Re: Spider GX vs Xecuter 3 - differences?

It supposed to be compatible with v1.0-1.6. Once ai get it, I can help you with whatever, as long as you can tell me what to do, since I am not familiar with how this chip works It's not hard really. What I would do is install it in a 1.6b, power it ON and OFF a couple of times and check if there a...

Re: Spider GX vs Xecuter 3 - differences?

Are any of the Spider GX's L D features any different than the x3's? What is the advantage of the x3's backup flash bank? X3 backup flash is a physically separate chip to store a 256KB BIOS you can boot by holding both Power and Eject button on your Xbox front panel. You usually put flashBIOS or an...

Re: Xenium Clone

By the way, a LCD with 2 lines of 20 characters will fit in just fine.
Obviously you won't be able to display as much stuff as if you were using a 20x4 LCD but they can be easily found for cheap.
