Are you switching off unused resources? for example switch off discovery, FTP and hard set your fan speed... don't leave it on auto...

There is a new 'lite' version that is now included in the nightly builds, there is also a lite theme for the original skin... this will all help.. The xbox is "in her grey years but still break dancing" when you consider what shes packing under the hood! remember to turn off unwanted servi...

I was only ever interested in 720p... but there never seemed to be a pure 720p review of the mods... AVI & MKV etc... 1080i/p is always going to be a complete no chance...

The extra RAM has no effect on game speeds etc... some people claim it actually makes them smoother.... and again emulators and Linux will see benefit from the extra RAM, but not XBMC... although again some claim it does make things smoother and will play more memory hungry files... but XBMC is gove...

Sounds like a BIOS order or incompatible drive issue.... does the HDD and CD ROM show up on the boot screen or in the BIOS?
