Re: How big's your library?

I done a lot of testing on the dds vs jpegturbo when buzz first implemented it and there was minimal difference. Both saved RAM and were quicker to load but if I remember correctly using the dds method was VERY SLIGHTLY more effective. I think with dds enabled you gained between 1 and 2 mb FreeMem. ...

Re: How big's your library?

The issue with memory taking a second or two to free up after scrolling through is a known issue so you should always wait a couple of seconds before clicking on an item otherwise it won't play or you'll get a freeze. Other than that I don't know mate, the Freemem you described sounds about right bu...

He's not taking credit for it Jan but simply reminding new users of it's existence. Adding the [RELEASE] tag in description doesn't mean the poster has released it but it does mean more users are likely to read the thread if it looks like there is a new release. There has been no mention of this scr...

Re: Amiga Emulation (WINUAE)

I absolutely loved the Amiga, I remember saving up my pocket money and selling my C64 and bought one second hand. Amiga was the best system ever, think I eventually sold it to raise money towards a Dreamcast (a brilliant, under-rated console that Sega somehow managed to f*** up!) I'm modifying my me...

Re: RELEASE] XBMC Earth - Google Earth and Geocoder / Geoloc

Wow there's a blast from the past, is that old thing still working?

Well done for finding it, if I remember rightly it was a little buggy but mostly worked. Was there a bug where you quite often can't exit out of the script? I may be thinking of something else, it's been a few years lol.

Re: Future Feature Request. (Would This Be Useful)

It's not something I've ever needed to use but are you suggesting something native to xbmc like what the xtv-saf skin offers? That gives you the option of loading a playlist at startup or a video (or at least I'm fairly sure it does). I would say this is skin related as the code is already there for...

Re: How big's your library?

A massive library certainly did used to cause issues with FreeMem, if you enable debugging you'll be able to see on screen what's going on - just keep an eye on the FreeMem. If if goes down to zero when clicking on something try searching by genre or some kind of smaller list and see what the number...

Re: XBMC installation issues

If you're using v3.3.1 then use the addons that are available in the xbox repository (in A4X Installer). The vast majority of plugins for mainbranch don't work "out of the box" on xbox, xbmc4xbox and xbmc are two completely different entities since Team_XBMC dropped the platform many years...

Re: XBMC HUB Festival in UK - You're all invited!

Well I think I managed to do my bit for the xbox cause, think a few people were quite surprised with what the old girl can do. Anyway a great time was had and it was great to see a fellow xbox user there (iceman). I made t-shirts for myself and a mate, here's the back... :D http://i1245.photobucket....

Re: upgrade hdd on softmod

Sorry on phone at moment so cant do a big reply but I personally prefer the v2.2a USB version. It gives you a proper GUI, you can run from USB and use the HDD on any socket. If you need me to upload my image let me know as I should be home soon.

Re: Modded Xboxes on Scenyx

I know what you're saying xman and you're right - the DVD drives are pretty useless and will no doubt fail within time. That being said I personally like to have a DVD drive, ok so I don't ever watch DVDs but quite a few people who I've set these up for still do and it means you don't have to have a...

Re: Sportsdevil not playing streams

OffsideStreams really is the only choice, the quality is great with no buffering and costs just £4.49 a month. I don't think I've ever used my xbox so much - I'm watching OffsideStreams all day in the garden/shed :-) If you want free (which is going to be choppy, buffering, poor quality etc.) then y...

They changed their security measures a few months back. As far as I'm aware there isn't a fix on any platform yet, although I could be wrong as I don't use it myself.

Re: Free McBoot v1.91 released (PS2 Softmod)

Finally got rid of my last PS2 a few weeks ago. Nice to know they are still working on the old girl still though, it was a great games system and although inferior to the xbox for it's media playback it was useful to take away with me on holiday with the joytech screen. SMS or whatever it was called...

Re: installing xbmc on my xbox went wrong

Verbatim DVD-R works on all makes and models, however as a general rule if you can't get hold of any verbatims I find if you try using a generic DVD-R doesn't work try a CD-R and you'll usually find you're in luck.

By PC Games I presume you mean GFW (Games For Windows). I'm afraid they have the monopoly on gaming, if it weren't for GFW I'd have switched to Linux on all my setups long before now.

Cheers mate, might give that a try. Just getting a fresh build of win7 setup first so the missus can use the htpc again but once thats sorted I'll definitely put it on my to do list.
