I'm fairly sure it will either read the dvd or it won't, rather than failing halfway through.
Correct.

Re: [SOLVED] iPlayer Broken (by BBC (again))

Somewhat annoyingly, a lot of content is 720p and therefore refuses to play the video stream (only playing the audio stream) on X80X.
No obvious way to set the add-on (plugin) to ask BBC servers to supply a lower quality stream. :-(

Is it possible to switch bios on XMBC?

Yes it is.

Search these forums and come back if you don't find the specifics for your chip.

BTW, Mr Google's top hit when you search for "SmartXX change BIOS" is this:

HTH.

Re: iPlayer Broken (by BBC (again))

After some time away from home hacking and XBOX stuff, I finally got around to trying the new iPlayerWWW Addon for Kodi (initially on my Acer Revo and on my RPi) which works satisfactorily. So that's great work. It's available in the default Kodi repo so no searching or special installation method n...

Re: auto boot games / programs on startup

There is an app called DirectX that will allow you to one- Identify all the .xbe on the HDD and two- Have it boot that .xbe on startup. You load it in your C drive and it will boot prior to anything else once the bios splash screen has booted... Correct me if I'm mistaken, but I 've got a feeling t...

I wonder how big Jonny's AVIP breakout board would be if it didn't use surface mount 'dust' ? :-)

Yep, as Geeba says, the Team XBMC Shortcut mechanism can be (ab)used in precisely this way.

Re: Using HDD RAW COPY to clone an Xbox drive

I think it has made an exact clone ie: 250gb only is being recognised by the 500gb. Like for like cloning wouldn't be a problem, but cloning to a bigger drive doesn't appear to resize to use the extra space. Yes, the same will be the case for the linux dd command. If you're willing to accept the co...

Re: Using HDD RAW COPY to clone an Xbox drive

Whilst I've never tried this myself for xbox drives (I might now, though), those familiar with a linux command line (a number of us geeks round here) will be thinking about the dd command. For example: dd if=/dev/sda of=/dev/sdb bs=512 conv=noerror, sync will copy HDD a to HDD b , assume a b lock s i...

Re: My latest ebay score :)

I've got an Xbox that does the same , leaking cap was the issue. That's likely a co-incidence, the clock cap is not in the vicintiy of the switch control circuitry. Whilst it's well worth removing the clock cap owing to its propensity to suffer failure of the dielectric and dump gunge over the PCB,...

Removed caps on two boards today :) The X2 modded and a v1.1 stock. The V1.1 switches on as soon as I plug in the power lead, I was hoping removing the clock cap and cleaning the board would cure this. Sadly not :( Nope, it'll be broken traces - one or more of the four long ones along the under-sid...

Re: Help with coinops 6..

Whatever has happened, I suspect that your boot dashboard's display resolution settings are now set in a mode which is not supported by either/any of your tellies/monitors. You could use FTP or start up with an installer disc (for example HeXEn) to confirm and fix.
