Unknown specification chipset on the xbox which was rumoured to be ATA66, shipped with ATA33 cable then people adding cheap Chinese SATA/IDE adapters again of unknow specification... always gonna be ugly....

Off the shelf pc cables are not wired the same as Xbox ones, but I don't think it really makes a difference but in theory it does if the Xbox conforms to the standard. I thought about getting them made with the same wiring as the original Xbox Ide cable with 80 core conductors and see if there is a...

I tend to just rumage through the bargain bin at Maplins - they usually have 133 cables in there

Yep I have to agree - high performance drives definitly make the xbox feel 'snappier' even though they are obviously bottlenecked by IDE standards...

Plenty... all my SATA xbox's have 80mm fans, I wouldn't run without them these days as I cant stand noisy kit!

Horses for courses I guess.... I cant play console for that exact reason... I did play 'The Last Of Us' on PS3 but found myself increasingly frustrated with joypads... :( the game itself was epic so I finished it... but I think the playstation has been powered up twice since... First Person Shooters...

Yeah I did pick up an Aussie 'twang' when I lived there that can sometimes re-appear after a LOT of beer... I put it down to living and working with Aussies but now I guess it could be the fact I invested heavily in Carlton and United Breweries!
