Re: There was a pop, then smoke, and even flames!

14 Jan last year by dating the pictures, I do admit I did not let up and kept on phoning them. I have pictures but they really don't do it justice of how bad it really was. It was returned to Microsoft they paid shipping and everythin I just had to package it. the dvd drive was covered in soot and t...

Re: XBOX v1.0 Power On Issue

a bit off topic but I did make my arcade moded consoles power up as soon as you plug it in on purpose :-) I use to solder capacitors across the power button so that once it powered up the cap would charge off the power button effectively operating the power button from a timed short. this was useful...

I phoned Microsoft as it caught fire and they supplied me with a new XB1 for my troubles :-) they classed it as prity serious and wanted serial numbers pictures etc... mine was a lot worse than that it warped the dvd tray and case, it self extinguished it's self but it bellow...

Re: How to wipe all and install a fresh Dash?

An installer dvd like hexen, slayers or AID is your best bet.

the only real catch is making sure you format to the correct cluster size if you have a large hdd.

there is plenty of guides around.

you wont find coinops on here best to go ask on their forum for help there.

Re: pico psu

yes they do but they are not really up the the current on the 5v line I believe and I have seen people remove caps from the motherboard to reduce load on startup so the psu does not trip out. you also cant wire them in directly as the ps on signals and standby and ps ok voltages are not the same as ...

Re: Help with xbox xecuter 2 mod crash. How can I put it stock ?

I think the passcode in hexen is " A B Y X " that will then allow you to format and do a fresh install with hexen. If it boots the default dashboard then you must not have the bios pointing to an alternate dash to boot to so it boots the default dash instead. You could try flashing a new b...

Re: Need help with Tsop recovery after bad flash..

you don't need a socket if you use a dil32 eeprom or plcc eeprom as you can easily hand solder as stated above by MrMajst3r. For example a AT 29C020 or a 29F002 would work and are easily solderable. you could use a ir window eprom like a 27c2001 (2Mbit ) 27c4001 (4M bit) but you need an external pro...

I have not seen such a guide but something I will say the best thing to do is prep it properly by sanding it or us a plastic etching primer so that the paint will stick.

error 9 is not a very common error I would try to replace the dvd drive ide cable from the other box and test it see if it has the same faults.

you could also swap the hdd's over ?

Re: OG Xbox games coming to Xbox One X

And it was certainly a large step away from quality. Beginning with non HDD DVD streaming only concept right to messed up 360 Controller with not functional d pad. Not to mention the RRoD. Too bad they did not continue pumping money into original Xbox as its late games from 2005-6 prove there was s...

Re: OG Xbox games coming to Xbox One X

I see it being a lot easier for them to do this than for the 360 backwards compatibility as it is the same architecture, and built on similar Windows based kernel and DirectX The 360 was really a large step away from the normal windows /pc compatible hardware and it is likely there will be a greater...

will an xbox be able to boot from the lcp if the tsop is completely removed ?

I want to keep a chip in there and remove the tsop.

If in future if the smart guys get Xbox live working then zeroing the HDD key could cause issues as it was part of the algorithm to uniquely define your console. It is not something that is needed these days as most tools set a master unlock code the can unlock the HDD regardless of the user passcod...

Yip I did try all banks.

I think a 29 wire mod chip may be the easiest method to recover it unless I can find a dead ver 1.4 to swap tsops over.

When you say that the three wire trick won't work, do you mean that you actually tried and it didn't work? If you did try, then did you try all four banks? I tried it and it won't work, I guess a 29 wire mod chip would work also but I don't have one :-( but I do have a few dead boards just none wit...
