Re: Using XBMC as default dash.
With a chip, as long as it is reliable, and you're using a good BIOS and Evox M8+ 1.6 137 (F&G) is as good as it gets IMHO there is pretty much nothing you can do to stuff up your Xbox short of reflashing the BIOS with something else or not partitioning F&G correctly. You're not going to do ...

Re: Locked hard drive
Anyone finding this thread now be aware that in a 2017 update Rocky5 changed the required location for the external eeprom file from the E:\drive to Y:\eeprom.bin. It is in the readme that comes with Chimp 261812 but I suspect a lot of people reading this thread might not think to check that before ...

Re: Creating E Drive larger than 4-5GB?
Its when you reach the limit on one or the other that the problems occur.
It also depends on what exactly 1014GB means - if that is what the Xbox itself is reporting ie. 1,014,000MiB on F and G then you're OK because that is actually 990GiB (base 1024)

Re: Xbox ISO vs HDD ready?
This sounds like a XBHDM USB (XBox Hard Drive Maker) sort of thing - something I know practically nothing about.
This thread seems relevant but whether XBHDM can do what you want and any better than the other methods I have no idea.

Re: Xbox ISO vs HDD ready?
If you use FileZilla you will get immediate information at the bottom of the screen about how many files there are to transfer, how many have been successfully transferred and how many have failed. When the ones which have been FTPed successfully first time are done you are told that some files fail...

Re: BIOS ID Detection
I've done a bit more research on this but not the XBMC question. It seems I'm likely right about them being Evox M8 series and as it is a v1.6 Xbox and supports extended partitions must be, at its core, one of those but both modified in some way, probably using the EVTool. As said it was chipped by ...

BIOS ID Detection
Can somebody please explain how to get XBMC to display the BIOS ID correctly? If you open the Shutdown menu > Information > Hardware option under Detected BIOS it shows Unknown. Please add MD5 from xbmc.log to BiosIDs.ini. Well I've opened the log and I can not see a MD5 hash anywhere and where is t...

Re: Xbox ISO vs HDD ready?
Once set up and working FTP is the best and fastest method to get stuff to the Xbox. You certainly would not want to use anything else for bulk transfers. But when transferring large amounts of stuff with lots of small files some will simply not copy first time. Re-queuing them and 99% of the time t...

Re: Xbox ISO vs HDD ready?
I think you've found some bad information or misunderstood something along the way. To play a Xbox game from anything other than the original disc the Xbox must be either chipped, TSOPed or softmodded. Any problems with specific games is usually due to the Xbox v1.6 Xcalibur video chip it uses. Rock...

Re: Xbox ISO vs HDD ready?
The same Xbox game files that are used to make a XISO for burning to disc media are those you'd FTP or transfer some other way to the HDD. Assuming your Xbox is modded: with it on disc there is nothing to stop you launching that on the Xbox and simply copying the files from it to a named folder in &...

Re: Creating E Drive larger than 4-5GB?
You mean you're using a 3TB HDD and are happy just to use (roughly) 2TB of it, the maximum size the Xbox supports. I'd assume the standard advice applies whether hard or softmodded and that is F and G MUST be of equal size if you want to use the full 2TB. That means less than 1024GiB in each - I'd m...

Re: 1.6 clock cap
The life of any capacitor should depend on the typical temperatures it has experienced during use and that is largely dependent on the ambient temperature, location ie.ventilation, insulation caused by dust/fluff build up and of course how often it is used. It is my contention that the clock capacit...

Glad to read it is fixed.
BTW looks like the Confluence skin (possibly Confluence Lite) - never knew it showed fps. I'll have to check that out.

Re: Dashboard 0.2 FPS - Corrupt dash or HDD?
Is your Xbox connected to the internet? If so try disconnecting it and restarting. Is it chipped or a softmod? Anything else attached ie. flash drive, memory card, other controller, DVD Dongle, keyboard or mouse - remove all and try again. Your FPS reference - I'm not understanding. What skin are yo...

Album Track Order By Number Not Alphabetically
Is there any way to get XBMC4Xbox to list an album's tracks by their metadata track number ie. their correct album order?
The default is alphabetical and short of adding track numbers to the track titles I've never found a way apart from that to get them to display and play in the intended order.

Re: Original XBox hardmod but won’t open
What you're seeing sounds like the normal MS dash and that indicates the chip is not working or, for some reason, you've lost your main dash. How are you starting the Xbox? It could just be that it is set up to dual boot and you're using the larger eject button (which boots the MS dash) rather than ...

Re: Xbox error 7 and 9
DVD-R is the universal disc media format to use. Although I've found, from my own quite extensive testing, that DVD+R is the next most commonly compatible format the Xbox Philips and Samsung 605B disc drives do have problems, at least they did with the two brands I tested. If you burn AID v4.53 (the...

Re: Xbox overheating even with new tp and 80mm fan mod
Sounds OK to me if that is at the default 20% fan speed but I'd still watch the temperatures. I set the fan speed to auto with XBMC and an aim temperature of 50C. Most of the time the fan idles at 20%. Rocky5's softmod itself uses, like a lot of installers, what is basically a modfied UnleashX dash ...

Re: Xbox overheating even with new tp and 80mm fan mod
What dashboard are you using? UnleashX, XBMC, EvoX? It sounds as if you're probably using UnleashX. The Xbox reporting of temperatures by UnleashX and EvoX is highly suspect and with v1.6 I'm lucky if UnleashX reports <54C except in the middle of winter with the ambient temperature in the room in <2...
