Go to settings, video settings, playback, and put full codec support on. This takes up a lot if memory though so if it affects other adfons then turn it off again

Try and go to settings (on xbmc), go to network settings, ftp should be somewhere around that menu, then change your ftp settings from there, you can change username and password and such from that menu.

Ah i don't think you needed to redo the softmod at all. I don't think it has any difference xbmc at all (i may be wrong). How do you mean nothing works? If you want to be on the latest version, go on xbmc, go to programmes, plugins, addons4xbox, get addons, xbmc4xbox repo, and go to programme addons...

I think you should go to settings, video settings and there should be an option in there to turn it off, if you want you can turn the whole libary off which would deffo stop all scanning.
