Re: Xbox won't boot

Although probably not the best answer, I'd suggest dropping a PAL PSU in that US Xbox.

Re: XBOX v1.0 Power On Issue

Check for corroded traces as well. Corroded traces will also exhibit weird stuff on the front panel.

Re: Doubts!

Clock cap is located at C7G3, in the lower left of the motherboard. - rust inside cage I'm not sure if this is a right thing to do - try to sand the whole cage down, and then paint it in whatever color you desire (black, white or gray usually look pretty good.). For Chimp - is this an softmodded Xbo...

Re: Burnt SATA-IDE adapter. Now what?

I don't have a credit card, and the estimated shipping time puts me off.

Oh well, might as well stick to my 160GB PATA Seagate DB35.3 I guess.

Burnt SATA-IDE adapter. Now what?

So I got one of these SATA-IDE adapter. It worked fine using a 250GB Samsung drive on a Pentium 4 motherboard that only had IDE, but on my Xbox, using a laptop drive (WDC Scorpio Blue 250GB SATA) it sparked and died. Upon inspection, I found out the APM5523 dual-channel linear regulator was burnt, a...

Re: HDD spinning up too slow?

M8 does work with this HDD, but then I lose the custom flubber animation that iND-BIOS uses.

Anything I could do to make iND-BIOS wait for the drive to initialize?

Re: HDD spinning up too slow?

HDD wasn't made with Chimp though. I built the base drive with AID 4.53 then FTP'd the most recent backup I had over. And your point is? Chimp has nothing to do with it, taking the IDE cable in and out is what causes it for me. ( Chimp is just the reason I took the IDE cable out ) I tried replacing...

Re: Picked up another xbox

Anyone got info on what values caps I need, or do I have to try to read off them the values? Sent fra min Nexus 6P via Tapatalk Try reading them, although I remember the caps that are the closest to the CPU are 3300uF 6.3v. Possible that the ones to the edge of the board are the same capacity but r...

Re: HDD spinning up too slow?

I tried that to no avail. It will still do the same. Maybe the HDD has a slow initialization sequence that causes this?

I know some SATA Western Digital HDDs have a slow spinup sequence and would require some stuff to be done to the boot sequence (DVD,HDD etc.) in order to avoid FRAG.

Re: Using HDAT2 to unlock an Xbox hard disc

Just some useless info ;) The Xbox used in the HDAT2 YouTube video, is chipped with an Xecuter v1. It has a standard 10gb Seagate hard disk. The LED's don't work? I've tried a different on/off control board, but still no LED's? I have tried another PSU. no LED's. I have looked over the tracks on th...

HDD spinning up too slow?

Okay, so it's been a long time since I last came here. In the meantime, I got some more Xboxes - two 1.0 (PAL since I'm in Romania) and a crystal 1.4 with ST TSOP and Phillips v2 drive. I also got some drives for each, so I can have them all modded (one of the 1.0 will stay softmodded, I accidentall...

Re: Rescuing original HD Help

Yesterday I purchased an xbox that from what I can tell is not modded. It has some issues however. Upon first booting it, the green splash and sound would startup as usual, but then the screen would freeze at the xbox logo. My feeling was that the dash couldn't load up. Thinking that maybe it had b...

Re: Case Mods Showcase

Did this. It's a v1.4,and it isn't complete yet. I just need to read the EEPROM and build a drive with it. I should note that the original EEPROM chip that actually came with it was dead (blinking red ring),so I had to take some time and solder my old 1.4's EEPROM on this board.

What do you think?

I have been using one for 2 years or so & its powers via my TV USB port, but internalising it would be handy.
Unless it's power hungry,I'd say you can power it off one of the USB ports - ports 3 and 4 would be ideal.

Re: Case Mods Showcase

Okay...time to make myself look bad,I guess. My old case mod. Found it on a old HDD. IIRC,this one was a dead 1.0 (I broke some traces near A18 and A19) with a dead stock HDD. I did this out of PURE boredom. Still got the case but it's 100% empty. Sorry for the quality,it was taken back when I didn'...
