Re: Is this really necessary ? Xbox Clock Capacitor Removal
I also removed the clock capacitor from my xbox yesterday it was already leaked. But I'm not sure if it can become more critical for the xbox if the capacitor has already leaked. I removed mine nevertheles without soldering just pulled it off and the xbox booted fine but was a version 1.1. You only...

Re: Xbox with a SmartXX chip
Check the version of your xbox, 1.6a & b need a different bios to the rest, make sure it is the correct size, most people have their own favorite, but mostly they do the same thing :!: :P Scroeffie posted this if your looking for a bios http://www.xbmc4xbox.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=...

Re: Xbox with a SmartXX chip
Here's how to flash a bios. 1) Load smart chip with quickboot (power not dvd button) 2) Go to Config (Just press up once) 3) Go to BIOS/BANK Config (Press down once after opening config) 4) It'll tell you the size parameters (2mb) and then go to flashing menu (Up OR down twice) 5) NOW you have the m...

I would persevere with the chip, check that you are flashing a compatible bios for your box version

Re: V1.6b with X3 chip problem
Okay, so I sorted it, not sure how :) I have a 1.6a with a X2.6, so I swapped the motherboards and power units. Now all the leds work and boots the chip. The X2.6 works fine on the 1.6b as well :) I'm not changing them back just in case it stops working. It must have been a loose connections, but I ...

V1.6b with X3 chip problem
Hi, picked up a 1.6b with a X3 chip installed. Boots up to Xbox dash fine, but cannot get the chip to run.
Has the 5V led on but nothing else, checked all the connections, they seem fine. No leds on the external adaptor.
Thanks

Is xbox #1 working without the adaptor and with the original hdd? Does the adaptor just plug in to the molex for the hdd?

Re: Duo x3 clone?
Hi, it's not the greatest :!: But don't look a gift horse in the mouth (showing my age). It has 2 chips 1 for V1.0-1.5 the other for V1.6. I don't really like the start up logo for the V1.6, but that's personal taste. On the chip version you have you cannot flash the chip, read this thread. http://w...

Re: XBOX boots up with a flickering screen
One of my XBOXs is booting up with a black/white flickering screen. It looks like it might be stuck in PAL mode or something. The XBOX has been modded with Unleashed X. Any idea how to fix this screen issue? Would reinstall Rocky's softmod do the trick? Have you got a copy of enigmah :?: Try settin...

Check this out, worked for me on a couple of boxes. If you check the rails on the bottom front edge you will probably have one with a tiny gap http://www.theisozone.com/tutorials/xbo ... on-repair/
