Re: Ludvig's first softmod, and other mods
If I decide to hard mod later, what sources is used for chips? If your Xbox is anything but version 1.6, you don't need to buy a chip. You can flash the TSOP with a hacked bios and it would be like having a chip installed. If your Xbox is 1.6 (or if you still want a chip), someone else will need to...

Re: Help with xbox xecuter 2 mod crash. How can I put it stock ?
I power off and power on again and the hexen dvd boot and the green light comes red. Then I have acces to the hexen dvd. Booting up with HeXEn is exactly what you should be doing to fix everything. Just use HeXEn to return your hard drive to stock and then use it to install whatever dashboard you w...

Re: Ludvig's first softmod, and other mods
The convenience of running a headless Xbox isn't just limited to traditional servers. Back when I didn't have extra sets of A/V packs, friends/family could give me their Xboxes to update without needing to give me their A/V pack, which can be inconvenient to unplug/replug depending on what's going o...

Re: Ludvig's first softmod, and other mods
Can current softmods run without an A/V pack connected? I'm not trying to argue or anything, I literally don't know. 4) No DVD drive ( softmods can do this by using a PCB from a DVD drive ) I don't know if it would be accurate to say that softmods can actually do this since you're still connecting t...

Re: 1.4 to 1.1 tsop swap?
You tried all four banks on the 1.1 TSOP when you tried the three wire trick? You basically need to do a normal 4-way TSOP split in order to access each bank individually. Check out the first Google Image result here for wiring instructions. I swear I'm not trying to beat a dead horse but I'm trying...

Re: Ludvig's first softmod, and other mods
What are the benefits over softmodding? Sent fra min Nexus 6P via Tapatalk Besides what shloader said (unlocked hard drives is a huge deal), you never have to worry about something happening to your softmod that can leave you with a non-functioning box. Even if you delete your entire hard drive, yo...

Re: Ludvig's first softmod, and other mods
Since it looks like you're not afraid to solder, have you thought about going beyond softmodding and just flashing the TSOP (assuming you have a non-1.6 Xbox)?

Re: Parts for softmodding and using xboxes
Can i just connect it to the computer via the controller and usb? I have a controller port to USB cable i made years ago, to use the xbox controller on a pc. Yes, this should work. You'll need computer software (and possibly drivers) that will recognize the Xbox memory card. The typical software/dr...

Re: 1.4 to 1.1 tsop swap?
When you say that the three wire trick won't work, do you mean that you actually tried and it didn't work? If you did try, then did you try all four banks?

Re: 1.4 to 1.1 tsop swap?
Have you tried the three wire trick on the 1.1 TSOP? Depending on the bad flash situation, you might be able to access a bank that's still properly flashed.

Re: Can you Burn SID 5 to DVD to update softmodded Xbox?
Look for Heimdall's Xbox Engineering disc. You'll be able to use that to update your softmod. You're supposed to burn it to a disc but you might be able to just extract it to your Xbox's hard drive and run it from there if you want to save a disc.

Re: Can't play multiple part movies, nothing happens
When you say that nothing happens, do you mean that the file that you try to play doesn't start playing at all? Or do you mean that the first part plays and then the second part doesn't play when the first part ends? If it's the latter, then as far as I know, multi part videos don't play consecutive...

Re: Buffering - Slow LAN speed - Half duplex ?
Yeah, it's extremely unlikely that the problems you're experiencing have anything to do with the Xbox's hard drive. Also, it shouldn't take much effort to temporarily relocate your router to where your hub is.

Re: Buffering - Slow LAN speed - Half duplex ?
What I meant was to take what you labeled as "Firewall" in your schematic (I'm assuming that this is a router?) and temporarily using it in place of your hub (Switch2) so that you only have proper switches between your Xbox and your file server. Alternatively, you can temporarily put your ...

Re: Buffering - Slow LAN speed - Half duplex ?
I'm not sure why your other machines don't exhibit this problem. Maybe the Xbox handles streaming traffic differently? I'm not sure. I guess it's possible that the Xbox's resources are too limited compared to a full computer to handle half duplex limitations well. I'm viewing this on my phone right ...

Re: TSOP now going backwards
Depending on the DVD drive you have in your Xbox and your DVD burner, you might be able to use DVD+Rs. If your burner has an option to set the booktype when burning DVD+R, then set it to DVD-ROM. If you don't know what that means, then just try burning anyway and see if it works. Also, never try to ...

Re: Buffering - Slow LAN speed - Half duplex ?
I'm sure that the problem isn't with the hard drive speed. It's possible that the problem is that the Xbox is somehow sending data back over the network during playback, and since the link is half duplex, then it interrupts streaming to the Xbox. If you have another switch (or a router that can act ...

Re: Clock keeps reverting back to factory setting
I just wanted to add that it's actually advised to remove the clock capacitor because it will eventually start leaking if it hasn't already started doing so. If your clock doesn't hold the time for at least a few hours once it's been disconnected from power, then it's a sign that the capacitor has f...
