Original Xbox HDD unlocked

Ok, guys.

Everything I have read on the forums said that original Xbox drives were always locked. I just used Chimp to copy from an original Xbox HDD, upgrading the kids' Xbox with a larger drive. But Chimp showed the original HDD was unlocked. The drive copy went fine. I then locked the upgrade drive, and it is working like a champ.

So I am a little confused and hoping that someone tell me what I missed. It is a v1.0 Xbox. It had not been opened as it still had the original stickers in place. No mod chip, etc.

Any ideas?

What version of Chimp?

If it was 261812 then it will as I only looked for the high security status instead of maximum and high, so if your hdd only supports maximum then it will say it's unlocked.

It's fixed now and show state it's locked. ( if you could confirm that would be greate )

Thanks for the quick response Rocky5. I used your 2016 Softmodding Tool & Extras Disc, so yes it was Chimp 261812.

After reading your reply I looked into the security levels you mentioned and now it makes sense. Thanks.

BTW: The original drive that showed as unlocked was the 8gb WD Protege.
