Of course it is, Google the pinout then just solder to it.

Hi,

I can also confirm that it's possible and pretty easy to do this. I'm using an Xbox for an arcade cabinet and wanted to be able to power on and off with a button on the outside of the cabinet. Getting to the power/reset switch is slightly tricky, but once that's out, you just solder to the switch pins.
There is a useful video tutorial which shows you where to solder here (skip to part 8):
https://sites.google.com/site/degenatro ... de-cabinet

I passed the wires out below the front panel, and terminated into a screw terminal block which I fixed to the underside of the Xbox case - makes it easier to detach if I need to strip everything down. Then I wired the pushbutton into the other side of the terminal block - works a treat.

Just a quick note though - the switch that you've linked to is latching, but I'd suggest you'll want to use a momentary action switch instead, as a latching button will have the effect of holding down the power/reset switch, which might cause you some problems.

Hope this helps you out.

... Hi again - another thought, I'm not 100% certain, but I don't think you'll find a 12V source for the illumination on the power/reset pcb, I have a feeling that it's 3.3V or maybe 5V at that stage.

So the led in the pushbutton will either be pretty dim,or possibly not light up at all. Maybe try something like this instead:

Again, I hope this is helpful.

Hi,

I hacked the digital switches from 2 xbox controllers which gives me a good 2 player setup - this way there is no need for any encoder pcb but the soldering is really tricky.

Before this I did look into kade as it looked good, but I gave up trying to buy one as they're never available, so I bought a dual strike board as I heard they were pretty good. I've never used it as the hacked controllers work well enough for me - I think these are still available here http://arcadeforge.net/GamePad-Key-Enco ... ddac628f45 (I bought mine on ebay)

Good luck with the project!
