Hd settings not sticking

Post by hawsey »

Hi , I have a newly soft modded xbox with xbmc4xbox 3.5 and a new hd cable , it is switched to HD and let's me select 720 which is what I want , however when I reboot or switch off and on it reverts back to normal non hd settings :-( .
I don't have it online at the mo , could that be an issue ?
Any ideas please .
Thx

What softmod did you use?

You probably have the virtual eeprom enabled & it's not writable by default.
Download Xbox Softmodding Tool & Extras Disc
XBMC4Kids Mod

Xbox Gamertag = Connxtion
PSN ID = JCRocky5

Common problem, as Rocky suggests. Carefully follow the instructions from the wiki:

Thanks guys , I used HeXen as I already had it on disc (Rocky5 and didn't have a blank cd to try your disk ) and installed it to E , ,the rest of the space went mainly to F ,previously I had tried xbmc on F but I had problems getting the shortcut to work so that's when I re did everything and chose the install xbmc to E option .

In which case, use HeXEn's semi-automated "Enable HD modes" for your softmod, it scripts what the wiki describes.

Option 5 in the menu, I think.

Read and follow the steps VERY carefully.

Definitely. Nothing worse than your children being grumpy because you disturbed their sleep.

I managed to sort this tonight thank God , it is a bit of a mess on compared to what I am used to with mod chips .
So I selected the HD option for the Krayzie soft mod which eventually sent me back to the original Microsoft dash where I selected 420 and 720p then re booted ; I am all done now booting up to Xbmc4xbox in 720 p :-)
Thanks for the help ....

That it's complicated is to be expected - remember with a softmod you are working around all the measures MS put into the original BIOS.
That it works at all is testament to the excellent skills of those who discovered the exploits, and implemented the patches and workarounds.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction spicemuseum , it's great that it was easy to do within HeXen , looking at the wiki link on how to do it manually I am sure I would have messed up .
I have done a soft mod only once before for a friend but he wasn't bothered about HD and it was before I knew about HeXen etc .
Cheers
