After installing a new HDD via cloning it and using xbpartioner to give my F drive the new found space, instead of going back to XBMC it went to the original dash. I'm not sure what I did after that, but I some how managed to install the Evox M8 BFM BIOS and I've never flashed it before nor have I preformed the hard modifications to allow for the BIOS to be flashed. Now I'm stuck with a Evos startup dash that only offers two options; Launch disc and system info. How do I get it to boot into XBMC again?
It can still launch .xbe files and load games from disc just fine.

Re: BIOS Help
I'm not too sure what that means. Do I have to mess around with stuff on my C drive? I only have evoxdash.xbe on my C drive... aren't there supposed to be more files there?professor_jonny wrote:log in with ftp and set the correct booting dash ?
I did do an EEPROM back up by the way. I may have royally messed something up, but I have that and my original HDD.

I'm guessing the silence is a way of telling me I'm stuck with what I have. I have a boot disc for Auto Installer Deluxe IV and Slayers EvoX Auto-Installer that have a file manager at least. Thank you for helping me professor_jonny.
I do apologize for cluttering up the forums with this stupid question and I guess this can be locked.

Re: BIOS Help
I would say your original booting dash, XBMC, was on your F drive and when you used XbPartitioner on your F drive to re-cluster, it has deleted your XBMC as it is supposed to do as with all the content on as well. Not an issue, just FTP another folder of XBMC onto your F drive again. It may have been in F/apps so create an apps folder in your F drive and put a folder of XBMC as well and see how you go. If you can't FTP, put in your Slayer's disc and you will be able to FTP using it. You can also use the Slayer's dosc to redo just your C and E drives if you think they are incorrect but I'm thinking your issue is your F drive.

Re: BIOS Help
+1 ^^^^^ If you flashed M8 it probably wants to boot to a certain dashboard in a certain partition. Xman is probably right you can FTP into the XBOX and make a folder called Apps and then throw XBMC into it. If it boots up then your good. You could always load up the latest Slayers build (2.98 i think) and you'll have options on installing a dashboard like XBMC into a certain directory.

It looks to me as if you don't yet have a satisfactory solution to a genuine problem, why would we close the thread?
What outcome do you want to achieve...
- do you want to change your BIOS?
- are you happy with your BIOS and want to know how to update your booting dash?
Re: BIOS Help
For some reason this didn't work, it still boots into the Evox dash. I also rebuilt my hard drive, installed XBMC over FTP, made the dash shortcut, and it still boots into the Evox dash. Re: BIOS Help
Where did you put your XBMC?. If you used F/apps, use the Slayer's disc, go to "Starting App" large hard drive and press green button on the controller. This will create a shortcut from EvoXDash to XBMC in your F/apps. If you used E/apps which I would highly recommend, again, use the Slayer's disc, go to "Starting App" stock hard drive and press green button on the controller. This will create a shortcut from EvoXDash to XBMC in your E/apps. If you have it in F drive or E Drive, you have used another install disc to do your setup. The AID disc has all the available booting app locations but you must tell it where and select. By default it will use either E drive or F drive. Just to get the machine going, I would suggest putting XBMC in all the locations. E, E/Apps, F, and F/Apps. You may also like to check that the copy of XBMC on the Xbox is complete. To check this use FTP and compare the mB size of the copy on the machine with the mB size on your PC. Oww, you did unrar the XBMC copy on your PC prior to FTPing it to the machine didn't you?. It should be 109 MB (114,747,461 bytes) in size unrared for the latest build.

Re: BIOS Help
Different time zones, jobs, family commitments and all that stuff means we cant allways respond straight away, but I'm not really sure if it is a hard or a softmod as you mention installing a bmf bios and about not installing the hardware to flash the bios? but you say c drive only has evoxdash.xbe installed on it so it sounds like a hardmod?.Tayjelir wrote:I'm guessing the silence is a way of telling me I'm stuck with what I have.
If it is hardmodded it sounds like it may be an easy out method to flash your bios with one where you know the boot sequence points to, it may save you some hassle or just drop shortcut files on the root of all your partitions to point to your xbmc install?
If it is not chipped then a disk like hexen may re install the softmod and replace your booting dash.
Re: BIOS Help
I fixed it! I can't 100% remember what I did, but I believe I; Locked my HDD, removed something that made the LED flash red, rebuild the drive, installed XBMC for a large drive, powered off, then BAM it works like I remember with all 290GB to my F partition.xman wrote:Where did you put your XBMC?. I am so sorry for my antics that involved fixing it, but is works. Thank you xman!
So I don't make a new thread asking this, how do you need to fit an 80-pin cable into the Xbox for it to work? Does it need to be inserted backwards? Disc drive header into the Xbox mainboard, HDD header into the Xbox disc drive, and mainboard header into the Xbox HDD?

Re: BIOS Help
The IDE cable can have the DVDrive, HDD and the mother board plugged in any connector. It makes no difference just as long as all are plugged in to a socket. I'm glad you sorted your machine out in the end. PJ is right when he says, "Different time zones, jobs, family commitments and all that stuff means we cant allways respond straight away". Him and I are on the other side of the planet to most of you guys and we both work daytime so can only read the posts when you guys are snoring. . In saying that there are always people about but whether they have the time or knowledge to respond is another question. For this reason I ask all members to not be shy and try to help if you think you can. Let's face it, even if you really stuff up, short of burning the box to the ground, there is always someone that can undo the problem and get it up and running again.
Re: BIOS Help
Yeah, I felt bad for making that comment. I was just saddened by the thought of losing my first softmodded Xbox to my own mistakes.
