Guys, a question.
I have a lot of original PAL games set on the HDD.
But when the xbox is configured for NTSC 720p some games won't work.
An error message comes up with "disc error" disc dirty or scratched"
The xbox set back to PAL the game plays fine from HDD without any disc error.
How do you guys have set your PAL games on NTSC? Is there a solution for this problem?
I know there is this option in settings. Enable video mode switching.
But enable it won't do the trick for me.
Neither with the manual option "start game with PAL, NTSC-J, NTSC-M or PAL-60"
Recently this occured with the games Enter the Matrix and The Warriors.

Re: Play PAL games on NTSC settings, help
Patch your games with DVD2Xbox & that should fix your issues.

Load up DVD2Xbox, goto file manager then F/G:/Games/ then press (white) on a game folder & pick process ACL.
That will make the XBE region free & also disable any FatX protections that maybe present.

Thanks Rocky5.
But I still get those error messages. It is still the same.
When ripping the game disc with DVD2XBOX it already does the process ACL. It comes always at the end.
Anyway I ripped the games in PAL state. Does that matter anything?
Should I rip it in NTSC state?

It shouldn't matter what region the game is, a Softmod/chip makes your xbox region free.
Are you Softmodded or chipped?

Modchipped, specifically a Xenium modchip this one.Rocky5 wrote:Are you Softmodded or chipped?
Oh wait, Xenium got a menu where I can change the region.
It is now:
DVD Region: Region 2 (can choose NO region or Region 1 to 6)
Game Region: EUR/AUS (can choose US/CAN or JAP or EUR/AUS)
What should I change?

That is what mine is set to, but I'm TSOPED with Ind-Bios 5004.
Also on all my softmoded systems it's the above aswell & there is no issue with muti regions.
What bios are you using?

I think bios does not matter. There are some games (but only a few) that will not work on console set to different region than game itself.
I know 3 games with this problem: Enter The Matrix, LoTR Return Of The King, The Warriors. You need to get NTSC copy to play these games or temporarily change region to PAL.

LOTR Return of the King works perfectly fine, not sure why yours doesn't.
The Warriors & also Timesplitters 2 don't work, (you get no picture only sound with timesplitters 2) I haven't got Enter the Matrix installed, but I'm sure it worked fine for me.
All my games are patched with DVD2Xbox.

Re: Play PAL games on NTSC settings, help
I've had games that work perfectly if they are run through DVD2Xbox and left on that machine's HDD however after FTPing them to the PC's HDD and then FTPed to another Xbox, no. Links Golf and Midtown Madness are two that I have had this issue with. They are the only two games I have to use DVD2Xbox on the particular machine I want them on. Other than those two games I have never had any issues. All my games are PAL but play fine using NTSC with component leads. Mind you, I don't have those games you mentioned.

This is true. I have this too with one of the NBA games.xman wrote:... however after FTPing them to the PC's HDD and then FTPed to another Xbox, no. Nevermind the problem. There are only a few games (not even a handful) with this problem.
But what about the "Enable video mode switching"? Should I turn this on?
Because the games plays eitherway.
