XirRemote help

Post by sixties keith »

This is the next mod i want to perform on my various Xbox's. i thought it would be simple but reading up on it, it seems i have to program a chip with software to be downloaded?

i thought i could just add a few parts to complete this but its seems it wont be that easy. Have anyone on here done this mod? and if so is it a hard thing to do?

also is there anywhere that the board with the ir reciever can be bought already completed and ready to add to the xbox?

cheers

I would definitely go down this route: http://www.xir.us

I didn't knew you could still purchase a XIR.

I do prefer the XERC2 mod : http://diy.sickmods.net/Our_Products/XERC_2/About/. It looks more of an accomplished mod IMO.

It's not for sale on Sickmods' shop anymore but I've made myself some PCBs and they work perfectly fine.

I've heard off the XERC mod but have not actually seen it - a quick google search suggests its not as plug'n'play ready as the xir? Do you know if you are able to customise the button mappings (e.g pressing '7' on the dvd remote for 2 seconds powers up the xbox)? Not slating your preference at all, interested to find out more!

The XERC is not plug and play but I bet you could create your own PCB and source the necessary parts to mimic the XIR Easy Kit install connectivity.

As for the button mapping, you can map any button to any feature and there is a Long press ON/OFF feature.

All the parts for a couple XERC2's are on my wish list...

Just have to save money first!
