Can't update MS Dash before softmod

I keep trying my updater games to update to 5960 and instead of updating it just resets the game. What do I do?
Also, I should note on the main MS Dash screen there is no Xbox live listed

use an exploit then ftp in new dash ?

What reason do you have to go to 5960?

Came here to say this. Doesn't the 2016 Softmodding tool works regardless of Dash version?

Correct.
The 5960 dash was only required because of dual booting to a live safe dash
( that was it's only reason for being required, well that and giving the shadowc a stock look )

The memory stick with my linux and splinter cell save must be a little older than your softmod tool. Whenever I would do I system it would always check to see if I was on the right dashboard. Honestly, I've always updated them prior to running the splinter save. I'll update using your tools and give it a go.
