The last few lines made it clear that it is indeed your adaptor, those are issues you get if using a 40 wire IDE cable with a lot of adaptors & usually the 80 wire fixes these issues.

I have a few adaptors that all work perfectly on the Xbox with no issues. When using a 80 wire IDE cable that is.

So maybe it's time to buy one that is known to work 100%?

i bought this one today / http://www.ebay.nl/itm/142065107591?_tr ... EBIDX%3AIT

http://www.ebay.nl/itm/0-75m-ATA133-80p ... SwU9xURWaT << this is the cable iam using at the moment

adapters tried allot of kinds they al are not stable at the beginning they are !
tried this one http://www.ebay.nl/itm/Brand-New-PATA-I ... SwQJhUj~3U
also tried the ones with caps with out caps with faster cristal etc etc with jumper select without

the problem also is the connector over time gets loos its not a tight fit !! the ide and power cable is pushing out the sata part
and over time this happens of course iam not moving my console 24/7 but i have to clean my tv cab once in a while ,and than inside the connection is getting loose or bad
tried securing the connection with hot glue ,with tape, with zipties etc etc

also these adapters have all the same jmicron brand or chip !!

i want to trie the kingwin but its expensive http://www.ebay.nl/itm/Kingwin-SATA-Dev ... xyI8lR908x

You must have jumpers of the adaptor, to the blue one right off the bat is a no go. As for the green one I haven't a clue never used that one.

Here is the one I use ( must look like the image ) and it works 100%, also it's cheap.

I also use a Startech one but that is expensive.
