Uhhhhhhh, that case swap is badass!!!! I'm glad you fully utilized the SmartXX chip with the LCD and what not.
Did you make a power switch for the two Hitachi hard drives?

Re: Case Mods Showcase
Yes there is a Switch in that Box for the HDDs, i can switch between them when i start the xbox (the box must off). It works with a AC/DC Relais. On my Remote i must press only one Button to switch between them (One Button switches the Box on or off)
Okay here is a newer Picture with two HDDs inside:

And that also you understand it, i found the original case sucks. I would have a Case that looks like a Hifi Case (e.g. a Tuner).

Re: Case Mods Showcase
Very Very nice slimbox MrMajst3r, I'm digging that color scheme with the LED's. It matches your carpet, for a sec I though the xbox was giving off the red color in the carpet
How well does that one fan on top cool? I like it.

Re: Case Mods Showcase
Well, with fan in jewel's place console has better temps than with 80mm on the back
When fan is set to 50% (almost silent), temps are about 30' CPU, 40' GPU (idle, XBMC).
Unfortunately, I couldn't set this fan precisely in the middle, because of HDD. So, it's a bit moved into right side.

Re: Case Mods Showcase
Yeah that's a really cool idea mate, makes perfect sense to have the fan on top. Do you find it gets clogged up wtih crap very quickly? I'd imagine without a filter it would get a load of dust in there. I might try this fan mod myself as I want to make something a bit different with one of the crystals I have here and as they're 1.6's it also means I should be able to have USB ports that have constant power to them (ideal for charging phones, ipods etc.).
Thanks for the inspiration!

Re: Case Mods Showcase
Fan is blowing warm air outside the console So I don't think there will be more dust then normally.

Re: Case Mods Showcase
Yes I presumed it was blowing out and not in - now that would clog things up
Just wondered whether or not gravity would work against the fan and sneak more dust than usual in there. I know stuff gets sucked in somehow with the vent at the back so just presumed it would be even worse on top, however if you've not noticed any problem with yours that's good enough for me!

Re: Case Mods Showcase
Been working on my diet slim again and have had some case overheaing problems which i have now overcome with a laptop fan that now vents the case through were the joypad 1 & 2 ports should be and works well with my temps staying well below 50 C
Also have now overcome the problem i had with the ata lead, i found that if you plug the middle conector into the mobo ( slimmer fitting ) it works fine
still.
Just needs paint

Re: Case Mods Showcase
I like the sucking air through the ports bit using that style of fan, that's atop idea. Those fans certainly move so air. Have you found that fan noisy at all?. I've never tried one myself but have often thought of trying one but just haven't taken the plunge yet.
