Updating UnleashX using SID 5.0?
Updating UnleashX using SID 5.0?
My current UnleashX dash is ver.0.37.1218A build 543. I wanted to know if the UnleashX version that ships with SID 5.0 is superior to the verison I currently have installed. Can or should I update via the SID 5.0 Splinter Cell methood? Will doing so auto reformat my HDD?

Re: Updating UnleashX using SID 5.0?
Just copy the latest version to your Xbox. Where you put it and what you call it depends on how your Xbox is modded, and if softmodded which softmod you used.
I'd be surprised if SID 5.0 didn't have a later version than the one you are using. The latest version is UnleashX_0_39_0528A v.584.

5.0 has 0.39.0222a. 572; Seems to run much better.
Only problem is, after the update I cannot display in 480i using HD av pack connected. XBOX defaults to 480p. Is there a way which allows for 480i via HD AV Pack? Will I most likely need to revert?
Tried using both SD and HD eprom installers.
NTSC xbox.

Doesn't the unleashx auto update work any more? been a long time since i have used anything less than 584
With a softmod, the dash .xbe file is usually in the root of the E drive named as evoxdash.xbe with tsop or chip it would usually be in the root of the C drive ( although it can check several locations depending on the bios you use.
As for the HD pack i read something about this the other day that the box needs to be tricked into booting into HD, does your hd cable have sd outputs aswell?

No, the UnleashX site has been down for ages, and at least one of the builds would never auto-update due to a bug.blighty wrote:Doesn't the unleashx auto update work any more?
That's not true for all softmods, although it may be if Redneck9 is using a SID softmod. For Krayzie the dash is in E:\Dashboard\default.xbe, for Kingroach it is in E:\Dash\default.xbe, for SID it is either C:\evoxdash.xbe or E:\evoxdash.xbe.blighty wrote:With a softmod, the dash .xbe file is usually in the root of the E drive named as evoxdash.xbe
No trickery required. The Xbox has to be in NTSC mode, and you have to have a component cable plugged in to the Xbox, and you have to have enabled HD modes on the Xbox. That's potentially different from the 480i / 480p problem that Redneck9 is having.blighty wrote:As for the HD pack i read something about this the other day that the box needs to be tricked into booting into HD, does your hd cable have sd outputs aswell?

Even with 480p, 720p and 1080i disabled, when the the HD AV Pack is connected it still forces 480p for some reason. No trickery required. 0.39.0222a. 572 Renders xbox games better, Xbox games load faster, Better LED indicator options, faster reboot. Only complaint I have is the 480p issue.

Nonsense - the dash is completely unloaded from memory when games are running. The game runs directly on top of the BIOS.Redneck9 wrote:0.39.0222a. 572 Renders xbox games better
Have you tried the latest version?
I know how to fix this with Krayzie or Kingroach, but not with SID.Redneck9 wrote:Only complaint I have is the 480p issue.

Guess it runs on the bios...Don't know how else to put it except for textures on San Andreas Supermod load in time with the horizon now and the Load screens on doom 3 don't stutter... xbox restarts faster... works better, thats all there is to it.Heimdall wrote:Nonsense - the dash is completely unloaded from memory when games are running. What is the latest version? I want a dual boot installer so I can recover using the splinter cell disc.I know how to fix this with Krayzie or Kingroach, but not with SID.

Re: Updating UnleashX using SID 5.0?
You don't need a dual boot installer to be able to recover with Splinter Cell. You just need a softmod (preferably with shadow C), and you need to leave the softmod gamesave on the Xbox.
I don't have a real preference for Krayzie or Kingroach. Most of my Xboxes have Krayzie because I softmod them with a gamesave, but at least one has Kingroach, and in use there's no difference between them.
Your games may seem to be loading more quickly, but it has nothing to do with the UnleashX version. It's more likely because the data has been loaded into the cache.
To force 480i make a file called video.bin, which needs to be a text file containing a single 0 (zero), with the file renamed to video.bin. On a SID softmod I think you then need to put video.bin in C:\SID5\video.bin (on the real C, not the shadow C).

Re: Updating UnleashX using SID 5.0?
2 days ago I tried updating using SID 5.12 hoping that would solve the 480p issue, after in uninstalled 5.0 and loaded the 5.12 installer, the installer froze on the shadow.c install screen. I had to power off the xbox when It froze. I could still load splinter cell and exit to unleashx at that point. It would boot to xbox live account screen but would freeze. So I deleted my splinter game saves, thinking I could get back there via MSdash. Went to unleashx enabled FTP, rebooted that was the end of it. Can't boot unleashx. can't boot MSdash, Xbox Will only boot to XBOX Live account screen or load games.
(kept my original MS HDD so now I need to buy a new HDD) Unless you know of another way?
