Hi, I found this on the internet http://www.instructables.com/id/Unlock- ... /?ALLSTEPS
It explains how to unlock a SATA hard drive from a BT vision box using a program called HDAT2 http://www.hdat2.com/
Erasing now, so don't know if it's worked yet? The timer doesn't appear to be changing? Will post the results later

Re: Unlock BT Vision SATA HARD DRIVE
OK it works! The timer doesn't change so you have to time it manually, took about 40 minutes for the 160gb hard disk I was using.
Follow the instructions on the above post's weblink, it doesn't seem to work if you just try to disable the passwoed? I had to do the erase bit as well.
Then formated on a PC, all ok.
I used a DVD disc not a usb drive, and I haven't tested HDAT2 with XBOX drives. You will still need to know the lock pasword
Hope this info is useful to people

Thanks for sharing , were these from the black BT boxes ? I have upgraded two xboxes using HDDs from the silver boxes and they just formatted with hexen no problem , maybe I was just lucky

Yes the black one I've used ones from the old silver ones as well, never found one of those locked. However all the silver ones have been IDE, this black one was SATA.

Ahh right , I see so you have to use an adapter as well , are you having to use the 80 pin cables too or is that just when the SATA drives are huge that you need those ?
