Hey congrats sir and well done. Yep slap in a new hard drive and use what ever disc you want to setup the drive. Just remember you'll have a G drive to play with now and if you go with big hard drive think about using XBpartitioner if needed.

Remove that #1 jumper and that will probably make the chip flashable now. Dont pay attention to the TSOP warnings since your flashing just the chip.

There should be plenty of BIOS choices on any auto-installer disc like Slayers or Hexen to choose from. Most likely you'll need a 256k bios and you can probably flash it easily with that disc as well. I cant remember if there was a dip switch to protect from flashing but I would attempt to use X2_49...

Hmmm now I'm confused. They way I understood it and have always done has been booting with the d0 connected to both chips. I've always booted with a good chip with d0 connected to it and the chip I was going to flash then once the box was booted and I loaded up a flash utility I would swap the chips...

Yep you can do a chip hotswap and flash but the d0 point has to stay connected on both chips to get it to work.

Check out EmuXtras and try to hunt down the media for each emulator. You'll find everything you need.

I would start by using the disc to flash your chip with another BIOS first. Boot up Slayers 2.7 (or Slayers 2.98) or Hexen, and flash the chip with M8 F&G v1.0-1.5. After the xbox turns off turn it back on and use the Slayers disk or Hexen to setup your hard drive.

I'm still wondering what dashboard and path the BIOS is trying to boot to. Knowing that could easily solve the problem and I"m betting that if you put the latest build of XBMC into F/Apps you might be able to boot up just fine. Also, just for the hell of it, try unplugging the network cable and...

Sounds like the M8 BIOS wants to find your dashboard in another location. Try to FTP into the xbox and put your dashes in F/Apps and see if that boots up, heck I think Slayers 2.98 will give you that option unlike 2.7 so that could be quicker too. One thing too, I doubt you have an Evox M8 1.6 bios ...

You could FTP into the xbox and replace XBMC with the latest version and see what that does.

I love unnecessary LED lighting . Fun fact, if you use an Iceberq on a slim box make sure you clear the jewel and cutout a hole under the jewel. Turn on the xbox (lid and jewel installed) and look at the ceiling, you'll see a nice XBOX emblem on your ceiling now.

Were you able to get Slayers 2.7 or 2.98 to burn correctly? Even Hexen maybe? I always burn at the lowest speed possible and it does end up being 4X usually and I have no problems. Using DVDR not RW.

Nope. Been looking for a while now but gave up since the factory heatsink does fine. Fans on the Iceberq4 for loud as hell anyway.

Havent used Hexen for a Winbond but you can always use the Raincoat flasher.

You can remove the chip from the pinheader and do exactly what you saying, softmod and then flash the TSOP but keep the chip disabled or unmounted when you want to boot from TSOP.
